Lamars Fish and Chips Menu: Updated Prices and What to Order
[Body]
Well, let me tell ya ’bout Lamar’s Fish and Chips, ya hear? It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it fills ya up good. Folks ’round here, they love it. It’s that kinda place where ya go when ya want somethin’ fried and tasty, ya know?
First off, they got fish, plenty of it. Big ol’ pieces of fish, battered up and fried golden brown. I ain’t sure what kinda fish it is, but it’s white and flaky. Some folks say it’s cod, some say haddock. I just say it’s good eatin’. They dip it in somethin’ they call batter, made with flour and eggs and milk, I reckon. Then they fry it up real hot, so it’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
- Fish, big and fried
- Chips, hot and salty
- Other stuff, like shrimp and grits
Then there’s the chips. Now, these ain’t potato chips like ya get in a bag. These are thick-cut fries, fried up golden brown and salty. They ain’t stingy with ’em neither. Ya get a big pile of ’em with your fish. Perfect for dippin’ in ketchup or whatever sauce ya like. I like mine with a bit of vinegar, myself. Makes ’em tangy, ya see?
Some folks like to get somethin’ called “mushy peas” with their fish and chips. I ain’t a big fan myself, but some folks swear by ’em. They’re peas, dried out and then mashed up. Look kinda green and slimy, if ya ask me. But hey, to each their own, right?
Now, Lamar’s, they ain’t just got fish and chips. They got other stuff too. I heard tell they serve breakfast, with fried fish and grits. Can ya believe that? Fish for breakfast! And biscuits, too. I ain’t tried it myself, but some folks say it’s mighty fine. They also got shrimp, fried up just like the fish. If ya ain’t a fish person, ya can get the shrimp. It’s all good, ya know?
Lamar’s, it ain’t one of them fancy restaurants, ya hear? It’s more of a down-home kinda place. The kinda place where ya can go in your work clothes and nobody cares. They ain’t got no fancy tablecloths or nothin’ like that. Just tables and chairs, and good food. That’s all ya need, right? And the folks that work there, they’re friendly enough. They’ll take your order and bring ya your food, and they’ll do it with a smile. Well, most of the time, anyways.
I heard tell Lamar’s is in Georgetown, South Carolina. On Merriman Road, I think. I ain’t been there myself, but folks say it’s easy to find. And they open pretty early, seems like, for breakfast and then stay open for lunch. I ain’t sure ’bout dinner, though. You might wanna call ‘em up and check, ya know? They got a phone number, I reckon. And folks say they got pictures of the food online, too, if ya wanna take a look before ya go. But honestly, the best way to know if ya like it is to just go and try it for yourself.
So, if you’re ever in Georgetown and you’re lookin’ for some good, down-home cookin’, you should give Lamar’s Fish and Chips a try. It ain’t gonna win no awards for fancy food, but it’ll fill ya up and it’ll taste good. And sometimes, that’s all ya need, right? Just some good, honest food, cooked up right. That’s what Lamar’s is all about, far as I can tell.
And don’t forget, they change their hours sometimes, so it’s best to check before you go. You don’t wanna drive all the way there and find them closed, now do ya? That would just be a waste of gas money, and gas ain’t cheap these days, let me tell ya.
One last thing, if ya go, try the fish. It’s what they’re known for, ya know? And get a big ol’ pile of chips to go with it. You won’t regret it, I promise ya that.
