the jolly fisherman roslyn

Well, lemme tell ya about this place, The Jolly Fisherman in Roslyn. It’s been around forever, they say 66 years! Can ya believe it? My old bones ain’t even that old!

They call it a steak house, but it ain’t just steaks, no siree. They got all sorts of food. Fish, they call it sea bass, and some kinda banana cream pie. Never had no fancy pie like that, but folks seem to like it.

Now, I ain’t one for fancy eatin’, but I hear tell this place is somethin’ special. People come from all over, they say. Probably got them white tablecloths and shiny silverware and all that jazz. Makes a body feel a bit out of place, ya know?

They say three brothers started it way back when, Luigi, Natale, and Pietro. Funny names, ain’t they? Then this fella, Bill Bruckman, he took it over. Guess he knows a thing or two about runnin’ a place where folks come to eat.

It’s on Main Street, number 25. Easy enough to find, I reckon. They open up at noon and stay open till 10 at night. So if you get a hankerin’ for some steak or fish, or that fancy pie, you know where to go.

They say they got reviews, lots of ’em. People writin’ about how good the food is. I ain’t never wrote no review, wouldn’t know where to start. But if I did, I’d probably just say it’s a nice place, clean and tidy, and the food ain’t bad.

But ain’t it a shame they’re closin’ down? All them years, all them folks eatin’ and laughin’, and now it’s comin’ to an end. Makes ya think, don’t it? Nothin’ lasts forever, not even a good steak house.

So if you’re in Roslyn, and you got a mind to, go on down to The Jolly Fisherman before it’s gone. Have yourself a meal, maybe that banana pie. And remember the folks who worked there, cookin’ and servin’ and makin’ folks happy. It’s the end of an era, they say. And I reckon they’re right.

You know, it’s funny how a place can become part of a town, part of people’s lives. Generations of folks eatin’ there, celebratin’ birthdays and anniversaries. It’s more than just a restaurant, it’s a piece of history. And soon, it’ll be gone.
